Current employees of eligible school districts and OCDE who have NetPay (or direct deposit) may apply for the 0% credit-qualifying loan through SchoolsFirst FCU.
Who is not eligible to apply for the loan? Retired teachers, non-public, private school employees, and friends and family members are not eligible for the SchoolsFirst FCU loan. What happens if my total purchase is over $2500?If you are taking advantage of the SchoolsFirst FCU loan, you will need to pay for the difference at the time of purchase. Loans over $2,500 are available on approved credit, but you must contact the Credit Union for details. Can I purchase a computer or other product that is not listed on the OCDE website?Yes, all computers and products available through the selected vendors will be eligible for the special loan. Can I obtain an SchoolsFirst FCU loan, and purchase my computer from a retail store or other non-selected vendors?No, you must apply your SchoolsFirst FCU loan towards a computer purchased through the Technology Purchase Program selected vendors. I plan to only purchase peripherals and software, can I obtain an SchoolsFIrst FCU loan?Yes, this year it is possible to request a loan for products other than computers. Please speak with the SchoolsFirst FCU to discuss details. May I purchase more than one computer through this program?Yes, you may purchase as many computers as you want. However, the maximum loan amount is $2,500. You must pay for the difference at the time of purchase. I found the same computer elsewhere for less, why is that?While the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) has negotiated the best price possible for the configurations listed, we cannot guarantee that these prices are the lowest possible for the duration of the Technology Purchase Program.
